Overview

Mountain Chain Travel Pvt Ltd regions of Leh, Kargil, Lahaul, and Spiti are landscapes that are one of their kind and cannot be found anywhere else in the country. It comprises a high-altitude cold desert, high-altitude snow-capped peaks, and bare stretches of peaks of various colors shaped by the various forces of nature. These Mountains Chain Travel regions are quite remote with extreme climatic conditions, high-altitude mountain ranges, and impenetrable mountain passes. Despite this, the people of the region have adapted themselves to the conditions and happily live here. This region also has several Buddhist Monasteries (locally called gompas) because Buddhism is practiced majorly by the people of this region who can visit. These monasteries have serene surroundings and are situated in really pretty locations. The best times to visit this area are from early June to the end of September. It is also fine to travel during the monsoons as it does not rain much here in this region. You will also visit the 1000-year-  

  • Itinerary

    Distance: 220-240 km | Duration: 7-8 hours Start your journey from Shimla, passing through picturesque landscapes, lush valleys, and charming villages. Drive along the Sutlej River through Rampur and onward to Kalpa (optional). At Kalpa, enjoy mesmerizing views of the Kinner Kailash Range. Overnight stay at Kalpa.

    Distance: 150-180 km | Duration: 7-8 hours Drive through rugged mountain roads to Nako, a beautiful high-altitude village. Visit the serene Nako Lake and ancient Nako Monastery. Continue to Tabo, often called the "Ajanta of the Himalayas." Explore the famous Tabo Monastery, a 1000-year-old Buddhist treasure. Overnight stay in Tabo.

    Distance: 100-120 km | Duration: 6-7 hours Visit the iconic Dhankar Monastery, perched on a cliff with stunning views. Hike to Dhankar Lake (optional, 1-2 hours). Explore Pin Valley National Park, known for its rare wildlife and stunning landscapes. Stop by Mudh Village, the last village in Pin Valley. Arrive in Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. Overnight stay in Kaza.

    Distance: 70-80 km | Duration: Full-day excursion Visit the iconic Ki Monastery, a 1000-year-old monastery offering breathtaking panoramic views. Drive to Kibber Village, one of the highest motorable villages in India. Visit the famous Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest suspension bridge. Return to Kaza. Spend the evening exploring the town’s cafes and local markets. Overnight stay in Kaza.

    Distance: 70-80 km | Duration: Full-day excursion Visit the high-altitude villages of Spiti: Komik: Asia's highest village connected by road. Hikkim: Home to the world’s highest post office—mail a postcard! Langza: Known for its fossil-rich fields and the giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Spiti landscape and return to Kaza. Overnight stay in Kaza.

    Distance: 220-240 km | Duration: 7-8 hours Retrace your route, enjoying stunning views of valleys, rivers, and Himalayan peaks. Stop at key viewpoints for photographs and refreshments along the way. Arrive in Rampur/Kalpa by evening. Overnight stay in Rampur/Kalpa.

    Distance: 220-240 km | Duration: 6-7 hours Drive back to Shimla, passing through scenic routes and villages. Arrive in Shimla, marking the end of your incredible Spiti Valley journey. Tour concludes with beautiful memories.

Read this to prepare for your tour in the best way!

    1. Transportation: Tempo. Entire sightseeing from tempo traveller. 
    2. Accommodation on Triple Sharing/Double sharing Basis as per itinerary in guest house/home stays/camps for 6 nights 7 days. 
    3. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner during the trip (Total 12 meals) 
    4. Driver allowance, Road tax, and Fuel Charges 
    5. An Oxygen Cylinder 24x7 in the backup Vehicle in case of Emergency 
    6. All Drives, Sightseeing and excursions as per the itinerary.
    7. All Governments’ fees and Taxes for Normal journey within Spiti.

    2. The company reserves the right to reschedule sightseeing days to ensure the smooth execution of tours. All guests must carry a valid Indian government-issued photo address proof, including for children.
    3. Please provide your pick-up and drop-off times.
    4. For those booking only the cab service, please book or look for hotels within a 9 to 10 km radius of the main city to avoid extra travel charges. Cab operator service hours for local sightseeing are from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. For safety reasons, please avoid late-night walks. If the vehicle is used late at night, additional compensation for the driver will be required. Please consider all sightseeing activities as per the time and travel schedule. There are no timing restrictions on arrival and departure days.
    5. Please respond by return mail so we can proceed with the advance booking formalities. Upon reflecting the amount in our account, we will send you a reservation voucher.
    6. Help us keep our surroundings clean by avoiding littering, spitting, drinking, and smoking in public places and in all aspects (advisory only).
    7. AC is complimentary in flat areas, but in hill stations, AC will not be used (mostly for North India and North East regions). All vehicles hired are on a point-to-point basis and not on disposal. If AC services are required in hill areas, it will be on a direct payment basis.
    8. Sightseeing days may need to be rescheduled due to the closing of any monument on a particular day to ensure the smooth execution of tours.
    9. Check-in and check-out times are as per hotel policies.
    10. Meal timings must be followed as instructed by the hotels. We shall not be responsible for any un-availed meals.
    11. In case of non-payment, either advance or remaining, the company has the right to stop services.
    12. We shall not be responsible for any cancellation of cabs or buses due to bad weather and are not liable for it.
    13. In Himachal, Leh Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and North East, the facilities of hotels, services, aids, etc., cannot be matched to developed destinations. Hotels in these regions are categorized based on location, services, and cost, and not as per star categorization (1*, 2*, 3*, 4*, 5*, etc.).
    14. No discount will be provided after confirmation.
    15. The company shall not be responsible for any delays or cancellations due to heavy traffic jams, blocked roads, technical faults, strikes, natural disasters, or any unforeseen events. Such situations may also require extra services at additional costs.

    Reservation Policy for Package Booking

    1. To secure your package booking, an initial payment of 50% is required at the time of reservation.
    2. The remaining 50% of the package cost will be collected either upon arrival on the first day of the tour or 1-7 days prior to the trip.

    Reservation Policy for Flight/Train/Bus Booking1

    1. For flight, train, or bus bookings, a 100% payment is required to confirm the reservation.

    Process of Making Advance Payment

    EMI Options Are Also Available in Our Gateways

    1. Cash deposit option at Mountains Chain Travel offices.
    2. Cash deposit in any of our mentioned banks (SBI, UCO, and HDFC).

    Cancellation Before 30 Days of Departure:

    If you cancel your booking more than 30 days before the scheduled departure date, you will receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee of [percentage or amount].

    Cancellation Between 15-30 Days of Departure:

    If the cancellation occurs between 15 and 30 days before departure, you will be refunded 50% of the total booking amount. The remaining 50% will be retained as a cancellation fee.

    Cancellation Within 15 Days of Departure:

    Cancellations made within 15 days of the departure date will not be eligible for a refund.

    Cancellation Due to Force Majeure:

    If you are unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances beyond your control (such as natural disasters, pandemics, etc.), we offer a full refund or rebooking option.


    Refund Policy

    Refund Process:

    Refund for Unused Services:

    Refund for Last-Minute Cancellations:

    For last-minute cancellations within 15 days of the trip, no refund will be provided for any services that have already been confirmed or paid for.

    No Refund for No Shows:

    No refund will be issued if you fail to show up for the booked trip without prior notice of cancellation.

Route 1: Shimla to Spiti Valley (All-Year Route)

This route remains open throughout the year (except during heavy snowfall).

Best For: Gradual altitude acclimatization and beautiful stops along the way.

Distance: Approx. 412 km from Shimla to Kaza.

Route Highlights:

Shimla → Rampur → Kalpa → Nako → Tabo → Kaza

Gradual ascent helps avoid altitude sickness.

Enjoy the scenic Sutlej River and serene villages like Nako and Kalpa.

How to Travel:

By Road: Hire a private taxi, self-drive, or take an HRTC (Himachal Roadways) bus.

By Train: Nearest railhead is Kalka, about 90 km from Shimla. Board a toy train or taxi to Shimla, then continue by road.

By Air: Fly to Shimla (Jubberhatti Airport) and continue by road. Alternatively, fly to Chandigarh and drive to Shimla.

Route 2: Manali to Spiti Valley (Summer Route)

This route is open from June to October, as the Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass are snowbound during winter.

Best For: Adventure seekers and shorter travel duration.

Distance: Approx. 200 km from Manali to Kaza.

Route Highlights:

Manali → Rohtang Pass → Kunzum Pass → Kaza

Offers dramatic landscapes, high-altitude passes, and adventure.

Slightly challenging due to steep ascents and rough roads.

How to Travel:

By Road: Hire a private taxi, self-drive, or take a Himachal Tourism bus from Manali to Kaza.

By Air: Nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (Kullu), about 50 km from Manali. Continue by road to Kaza.
